Here’s some additional information about The Time Travellers Film, and Slingshot Pictures respectfully.

Film Info:

Logline:

The story of the women and men going to the ends of the earth to reach back into the deep past to try and better understand the future for life on this planet.

Overview:

The field of Paleoclimate research utilizes biological and geological evidence stored in ice sheets, tree rings, various forms of sediment, and rocks to re-create past climates. Collecting these samples sometimes requires these researchers to go to remote locations and operate in extreme environments. Paleoclimate research is such a crucial step in building the predictive models that inform climate policy, guide corporate action, and shape public dialogue, yet very little has been created on the subject in long-form video. The goal of this film is to utilize hard science and themes of landscape, time, and adventure to contextualize this complex issue and speak about “how we know” what we know about climate change in the present day.

A secondary goal of the film is to showcase what science looks like on such a large scale. Rather than a lone genius who emerges from a lab with a brilliant new idea, the film is interested in this grand coordinated effort between groups of individuals. This coordination often requires working across cultural, class, linguistic, and national boundaries. This is a different kind of science story of how each individual is working tirelessly on one small piece of a much larger puzzle. As coordination increases, so does the resolution of the image as a whole. This is not only how we have come to understand the complexities of climate, but it also can operate as a metaphor for how we address a solution.

Slingshot Pictures Info:

Slingshot Pictures is a full service film production company. The three founding members work together to tell complex stories in often challenging environments. From pre-production, to shooting and editing, Slingshot Pictures creates projects from inception through to finished product.
