The fact that even one person listens to my podcast, or subscribes to this newsletter, will never not be crazy to me.
I want to start this by offering the sincerest thank you to you all for your support and patronage of this little project of mine…
This past year has been incredible, in general, but also narcissistically for NF.
I can’t wait to show you a few of the things I’ve been working on.
My fake Vlogmas letter did better numbers than 98% of the stuff I send out.
That’s barely a brag, I’m just trying to give some context.
I had a feeling it might, at least I was hoping it would…
Also not meant as a brag, more context.
That style of posting is on it’s way back, or it’s back already, either way…
It’s also how I cut my teeth, and my favourite type of writing.
Before Nowhere Fast was whatever it is now, it was a store, before that it was a brand, before that it was a magazine, before that it was a blog, even before that it was a different blog called What Friends Are For…
That was 2007 ish.
And the further away from that I’ve gotten, aside from doing interviews, the less I’ve enjoyed it all.
If we’re being honest with each other.
So if you guys will allow it, and statistics say you might…
I’d like to focus more on this type of posting in the future.
Not solely, but more frequently, and still just as random and irrelevant as my older entries, just in a different way.
Before the paywall hits, I know most of you are paid subscribers, but just in case you aren’t yet. I’d hate for you to miss these:
I made a Letterboxd account for Nowhere Fast, before you say anything, we’ve been watching movies over here, we’re just now logging and or reviewing them on the internet in a public way.
I need to get our Discord v2 popping again, that’s on my to-do list for the rest of the winter. Here’s an Invite for the public channels if you need one.
Every year, maybe not every year since I was young…
Definitely since everything was so dictated by phones and MacBooks though.
Usually in the couple days leading up to January 1st, I put what’s actually worth bringing with me to the new year.
A truly pathetic percentage of all the stuff I’ve accumulated over the year.
I completely clear my iPhoto, phone and computer.
I wipe my desktop too.
I unsubscribe from pods and letters that don’t compel me anymore.
By all means, be reciprocal with that.
Don’t listen to, or read anything you don’t love in 2025.
I wish you well.
I tell myself no more rewatching shows and movies I’ve already seen.
Every year I do actually get better at this one.
I eventually cave, but I hold-off longer and longer every year.
Maybe it’s my year though, we’ll see.
I make a pile of books I will inevitably never read but it’s always nice to pretend.
Friend of the pod, Sami Reiss recommended this one to me, I really hope I at least get to this one.
I’ve also made a couple lists.
Ins, outs, and some predictions for 2025.
Unprovoked, and with absolutely no context, here they are:
